Here are some clean beauty & healthy swaps for you to help swap out conventional products! I’ll leave links (and coupons if I have them) below! You can read the full post by going to my Instagram @p.s.byhannahmarie.
Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Did you know that there is actually good AND bad bacteria (microbes) on our skin? They’re there to protect our skin from the bad bacteria entering our bodies & harming us or creating disease.
Most body washes, conventional or not, strip our skin of the natural oils, bacteria and protective layer making us much more susceptible & vulnerable to skin issues & more. Not to mention the other not so great ingredients in soaps that we not only put on our skin and breathe in, but also is being absorbed into our bloodstream. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I came across Aleavia Skincare awhile back & was intrigued! Aleavia is plant based prebiotic based skincare line – focusing on building & feeding the GOOD microbes on your skin so it can continue to do its job and have healthy skin. God created our bodies so unique & complex – its so fascinating!
Aleavia products cleanse the skin without stripping it of the natural, components it needs to be healthy. Immediately after using this…well actually WHILE I was using it, My skin felt clean, but SO soft & not stripped of its natural oils. The ingredients are plain & simple and pure. Like 7 ingredients ya’ll…. And all ones you can pronounce (and probably eat…. Lol) That’s what I’m talking’ about!

So if you’re still on the hunt for a pure body wash or skincare that will work WITH your body & good bacteria, I highly recommend checking out Aleavia Skincare.
Research shows an average women eats 7lbs of lipstick in her lifetime. I had to reread that multiple times. 7 POUNDS?! Isn’t that INSANE??! But if you think about it, women apply lipstick then eat & drink, then reapply & that continues throughout the day…so we do actually end up “eating our lipstick.”
Pictured above is a pretty affordable lipstick that you can find at most drugstores. I personally had a small collection of my own & LOVED them…at the time. But what’s actually IN them (and other lipsticks)? I wish you could’ve seen my face when I looked this up on @environmentalworkinggroup. Although I don’t recommend solely relying on these types of apps, they are super helpful. But do your own research, too! This rated a whopping 9 out of 10. 😯 Many lipsticks still contain Lead. exposure to lead is linked to be a endocrine disruptor (hormones), neurotoxin, reproductive disruptor & more. As In addition, toxic heavy metals including aluminum, synthetic coloring, fragrance & dyes, parrafin (derived from petroleum) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Affordable, yet still clean & natural SWAP is the Root Pretty Vegan Shea Butter Lipstick. I feel these two lips are both so similar; in colors, texture & price, but the ingredients are SO much better! These lipsticks are extremely pigmented & smooth. If you ever thought or heard that “clean beauty isn’t pigmented” or “doesn’t perform well” that is such a lie. Oh, also… clean beauty doesn’t have to break the bank either! I appreciate Root giving the opportunity of clean beauty to many while still being affordable. These lipsticks contain nourishing ingredients like Shea butter & Vitamin E. Plus they have a beautiful variety of colors to choose from!
I’m a huge fan of B.B. creams, especially in the summer. They’re quick & easy to apply. You can apply it with your fingers. They are lightweight & give light coverage, evening the skin tone a bit, giving skincare benefits but letting your natural beauty & skin shine through. I used to be a HUGE fan of B.B. cream by Aveeno. I just loved the way it looked & felt on the skin; it smelled yummy too. But it contains ingredients that are endocrine disrupters, allergens & irritants and carcinogens, rating a 10 on the EWG. I was a bit shocked when I saw that, especially since a B.B. Cream is supposed to be like skincare – many of those ingredients can be irritants to the skin!
I found a swap that works just as well + has really amazing, organic ingredients. It’s by INIKA Organic. It feels really nice on the skin & has been my go to for that past few years! Plus, the ingredients are truly wonderful for the skin and will benefit and keep it feeling moisturized. Organic Ingredients like Aloe Vera, prickly pear seed, jojoba, rosehip, even some probiotic. Sooo good. However, this one does not contain an SPF. Their mineral foundation, another one of my favs, has SPF so sometimes I’ll apply a bit of that over the B.B. cream, plus it gives a little more coverage too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Toothpaste is one thing I feel is pretty important to swap out since its actually going in your mouth. Your mouth tissue & skin is much more absorbent. Most conventional toothpaste contain some pretty harsh toxic ingredients.
Instead opt for something like David’s Natural Toothpaste. Cleaner ingredients, yet still performs really well! I have tried MANY “natural” & cleaner options & this is by far the best yet. It is the most like conventional in my opinion with WAYYYY better ingredients. Ingredients like: purified water, baking soda and natural essential oils. They use 100% USA Farmed natural mint oil flavoring. No Artificial Flavors, Sweeteners, Colors, or Preservatives. They are not only based & made I in the US, but 98% of their ingredients are USA origin, too! Not to mention sustainable, recyclable packaging & cruelty free (a member of Leaping Bunny). .
